Whether with family or with friends, video games bring people together no other form of media can do. Here are five games that are fast-paced, skips the language barrier, easy to pick up and play, and everyone can have a turn.

1. Overcooked 2 (Nintendo Switch, Steam, PS4, XboxOne)
Don't leave all the cooking to one person! This fast paced game relies on up to four players to prep, cook, serve, and clean in a restaurant. Players must coordinate to get the kitchen running efficiently by delegating and finishing tasks. As orders pile up faster, players will need to strategize and communicate. One false step will back up the orders and maybe even start a fire or two. Just like real life Thanksgiving.

2. Super Mario Party (Nintendo Switch)
The Mario Party games still rank top turkey when it comes to group gaming. Up to 4 players can compete at a time, and even spectators will have blast watching and cheering on the players. If a board is taking up too much time, select the minigame only option for quick sessions where everyone can have a turn. The games are fun, engaging, easy to play, and guaranteed to bring some lighthearted competition with plenty of laughs.

3. Mario Kart 8 (Nintendo Switch)
Racing games are fun and quick to pick up, and Mario Kart takes the track. With its fun characters, bright courses, catchy music, and easy to control vehicles, everyone can have fun taking a turn. New players can simply pick a kart and go for a stroll, while advanced players can change to intermediate car parts and utilize the drift mechanics. It'll be a fun way to burn off the turkey day meal (sort of).

4. Super Bomberman R (Nintendo Switch)
What better way to ease holiday tension than with explosions. In Bomberman, the goal is to blow up your opponent, before they do it to you. Add in six other players for an 8 player brawl, combined with special items that give power ups like fireballs blasting down the lanes and gloves that chuck bombs across the block, and you've got an arena lighting it up for the holidays.

5. Untitled Goose Game (Steam, Switch, PS4, XboxOne)
This one isn't quite a group game with a maximum of two players, but everyone will be part of the shenanigans as you control a goose (or two) wrecking havoc in a town. Steal items, turn on sprinklers, ruin dates, throw items into a river; your guests will be laughing at all the possible hi-jinks. It'll be a fun way to wrap up the night by showing what happens when a goose doesn't end up as Thanksgiving dinner.
